BATON ROUGE, LA – A routine neighborhood HOA meeting spiraled into confusion Saturday night after a group of No Kings protesters quietly infiltrated the gathering and attempted what they described as a “peaceful dethroning.”
The disruption began midway through a discussion on fence height compliance, when several attendees stood up and demanded the HOA president “step down from his unofficial monarchy” and return “lawn authority to the people.”
Board members initially attempted to proceed using Robert’s Rules of Order, but protesters repeatedly objected, claiming the process “felt a little too royal.” One attendee reportedly rang a small bell and declared the meeting “subject to constitutional reform.”
The HOA president, visibly frustrated, tried to regain control by reminding residents that the bylaws had been previously agreed upon. Protesters quickly labeled the statement a “verbal decree,” further escalating tensions.
The HOA president later issued a follow-up email reminding residents that all rules remain in effect, adding that any attempts at overthrow must still be submitted through the proper architectural review process.
