BATON ROUGE, LA – Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has reportedly demanded that every LSU player provide two forms of identification before being allowed on the field Saturday, citing lingering questions over exactly who the Tigers are permitted to put in uniform.
According to Clemson officials, acceptable documents include a driver’s license, passport, birth certificate or anything proving the player hasn’t spent the last six years playing linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens.
“We’re not accusing LSU of anything,” Swinney reportedly said. “We’d just like to know who we’re tackling.”
The request comes amid LSU’s ongoing legal battle with the SEC over the eligibility of former “NFL players” attempting to return to college football.
Clemson staffers and team attorneys will reportedly be stationed outside LSU’s locker room with clipboards, checking names against the official roster before kickoff.
Players unable to provide sufficient identification will be directed to a secondary screening area, where Lane Kiffin must answer three security questions about them before they can enter the field.
