BATON ROUGE, LA – LSU Police issued a reminder Saturday morning that marijuana remains illegal on campus, urging Tiger fans to make responsible decisions and consume alcohol continuously for approximately 16 hours instead.
Officials said officers will be monitoring tailgates for marijuana possession while respecting LSU’s longstanding tradition of allowing adults to begin drinking bourbon at sunrise and continue until they’ve completely lost consciousness and possibly their truck keys and wallet.
“We just want everyone to make good choices,” an LSU Police spokesperson said. “If you’re feeling stressed, there are plenty of perfectly legal options, including beer, bourbon, vodka, Jell-O shots, daiquiris and whatever your uncle poured into that unmarked gallon jug.”
Police encouraged fans who encounter marijuana to immediately put it down and return to the safer, time-tested practice of drinking until 3 AM.
Officials stressed that public safety remains LSU’s top priority and asked tailgaters to pace themselves throughout the day, preferably by alternating every alcoholic beverage with another alcoholic beverage that contains slightly less alcohol.
