BIRMINGHAM, AL – SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey filed a formal complaint against LSU President Wade Rousse Wednesday after Rousse used the word “moot” and several other terms Sankey reportedly did not understand.
The complaint came shortly after Rousse informed Sankey that LSU’s decision not to roster two former NFL players had rendered the ongoing dispute moot, forcing the commissioner to briefly suspend hostilities while an SEC intern explained what that meant.
Sources said Sankey became increasingly frustrated after encountering additional words including “rendered,” “jurisdiction” and “resolved,” eventually accusing Rousse of deliberately escalating the conference’s vocabulary crisis.
“This type of language has no place in the SEC,” Sankey reportedly said. “If LSU has something to say, they need to say it in a way everybody can understand.”
Sankey has asked the SEC Executive Committee to require all future correspondence from LSU to include definitions, phonetic pronunciations and, when necessary, pictures.
Rousse responded Thursday with a one-word statement: “Notwithstanding.”
