BATON ROUGE, LA – With First Lady Melania Trump expected at Saturday’s LSU-Alabama game, tailgate host Blake Champagne is rehearsing how to explain that the bathroom inside his RV is unavailable to guests.
“Madam First Lady, we’re glad you’re here, but we’re keeping that one for the ride home,” Champagne practiced Thursday, while his wife played the first lady and kept walking toward the steps.
He has opted against the popular “the toilet’s broken” excuse because his nephew could emerge from it at any moment.
Champagne plans to offer Melania a purple koozie, a plate of Matherne’s hot wings and directions to the portable toilets.
He has asked his brother-in-law to handle the actual conversation, citing obligations to a pot of pastalaya that’s behind schedule.
