BATON ROUGE, LA – Move over “Judge Judy”—Baton Rouge’s 19th Judicial District Court has unintentionally launched a new hit series: “So You Think You Can Judge?“
The premise is simple: contestants—sitting judges—compete to see who can stay on the bench the longest while racking up the most ethical violations with minimal consequences. In the thrilling two-week premiere, one judge invented a fake law on the spot, while another lied about her military record and filed a questionable insurance claim for a missing diamond ring. Audiences are calling it “the most entertaining collapse of public trust since Watergate.”
“I thought I was watching court proceedings,” said one courtroom spectator, “but it turns out I was just tuning into a live audition for season two.”
Show segments include Make Up a Statute, Hide the Evidence, and Swear to Something—with bonus rounds for “accidental” campaign embellishments.
Producers say the show is a hit with local viewers, who enjoy guessing which judge will be investigated next. When asked if the show would feature any actual law, the director laughed: “Law? In this a 19th JDC courtroom? That’s not in the script.”
Coming soon: “Keeping Up with the Councilmembers,” “Real Bureaucrats of East Baton Rouge Parish,” “Wheel of Infrastructure,” and “Who Wants to Be a City Contractor?”
