BATON ROUGE, La. – Excitement spread through the city this week as real estate developers announced a brand-new, crime-free neighborhood, a first for Baton Rouge. The development, dubbed “Serenity Oaks,” boasts zero break-ins, no carjackings, and not a single murder since its construction.
Local residents were thrilled until a closer look at the fine print revealed a minor detail—the neighborhood is actually located in Prairieville.
“It’s just a short 20-minute drive from Baton Rouge!” said the developer, hastily changing subject when asked why they didn’t build it in the city. “Technically, if you drive here from Baton Rouge, it feels like part of the city.”
The announcement left Baton Rouge officials scrambling to find a crime-free zone within city limits, but after searching for hours, they settled for the Whole Foods parking lot on a Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, Prairieville homeowners are now rushing to form an HOA to keep Baton Rouge residents from moving in.
