BATON ROUGE, La. – What started as a routine call for resignation has now turned into an old-school Baton Rouge showdown. Mayoral transition co-chair Darrell Glasper publicly demanded that Councilman Darryl Hurst resign over his behavior at council meetings. But instead of backing down, Hurst fired back with a counteroffer—Glasper should resign instead.
With neither man willing to step aside, tensions quickly escalated, leading to the only logical next step in Louisiana politics: taking it to Sonic.
“If he’s not stepping down, we can handle this at Sonic,” Glasper announced. Hurst, refusing to be outmatched, shot back, “I was already headed there. Hope he knows how to duck.”
Political insiders say Sonic fights are more effective than council meetings. City officials are now considering hiring referees instead of parliamentarians.
