BATON ROUGE, LA – SpaceX reassured Pecan Island residents that its proposed Louisiana spaceport would never permanently prevent them from accessing their property, explaining that restrictions would occur only during rocket launches scheduled throughout the entire day.
“There’s an important distinction between permanently closed and repeatedly unavailable,” said a company spokesperson. “Your property remains yours. Getting to it is a separate issue altogether.”
Under plans calling for roughly 30 launches daily, residents would retain access during designated intervals between one temporary closure ending and the next temporary closure beginning.
Company representatives encouraged homeowners to keep their keys ready.
“We’re making tremendous progress toward allowing people to spend a weekend on the moon,” the spokesperson added. “We understand some residents would prefer to spend a Tuesday at their camp, and that remains a long-term objective.”
Officials emphasized that nobody was being denied access indefinitely. Each restriction would have a clear beginning, an eventual ending, and another restriction immediately afterward.
Residents were advised to check the launch schedule before feeding their cattle.
