Man Accused of Burglarizing Business Near Cortana Mall

BATON ROUGE, La – WBRZ reports that the BRPD was sent to investigate an attempted burglary at a business near Cortana Mall recently.

Police say after spotting the suspect leaving the store he fled east on Florida Blvd from Cortana Mall towards the Broadmoor Theater, passing New Generation, K&B and Kmart before making a u-turn near TG&Y. At least three people leaving Fun Fair Park witnessed the pursuit zip past them in the direction of Putt-Putt Golf and Bon Marché Mall.

The chase ended downtown when the suspect crashed into the Catfish Town ticket office. The man then fled on foot towards the Baton Rouge Centroplex where hundreds of people were leaving a Van Halen/Def Leppard concert.

He was apprehended and a search of his IROC-Z turned up three Betamax VCRs, two Sony Walkmans with the anti skip feature, five Members Only jackets and a pair of parachute pants. An empty Orange Julius cup and wrapper from Mama Brava Pizza were also located in the suspect’s car.
