BATON ROUGE, LA – Amazon officials are calling the company’s expanding Baton Rouge drone delivery program a success, pointing to remarkably few noise complaints from residents who live nowhere near the drones.
“We’ve received virtually no complaints from residents outside our delivery area,” an Amazon spokesperson said. “In some neighborhoods across Baton Rouge, people tell us they haven’t heard a single drone all day.”
Amazon said the findings prove concerns about noise may be isolated primarily to areas where drones are actually flying overhead.
Residents living beneath the flight paths have reported a slightly different experience, with some complaining about the increasing number of drones buzzing over their homes throughout the day.
Amazon officials said engineers have already made the aircraft significantly quieter and remain committed to addressing community concerns.
The company plans to continue gathering feedback, particularly from residents in Zachary, Denham Springs and other communities where hearing an Amazon drone remains nearly impossible.
Amazon said early results from those neighborhoods have been overwhelmingly positive.
