BATON ROUGE, LA – A new state audit has identified 15 inactive Louisiana boards and commissions, immediately making them among the most efficient government entities operating in the state.
Officials say the boards have apparently perfected a revolutionary approach to government involving no meetings, no new regulations, no expensive studies and virtually no opportunity to make anything worse.
“This is the kind of efficiency taxpayers have been demanding for years,” said one state official. “These boards aren’t wasting anyone’s time because they aren’t doing anything at all.”
Lawmakers initially discussed eliminating the inactive boards before realizing their complete lack of activity may actually represent an ideal model for government reform.
The remaining 477 state boards and commissions are now facing questions about why they continue holding meetings and conducting official business when Louisiana has clearly demonstrated another option.
Officials are reportedly studying whether the inactive-board model can be expanded statewide.
Several active agencies have already requested funding to study it.
