BATON ROUGE, LA – LSU updated its football practice requirements this week, adding a certified court order alongside helmets, shoulder pads and cleats as college football continues its gradual transition from the transfer portal to the courthouse.
The change follows several recent eligibility battles involving potential Tigers. Former LSU edge rusher Jack Pyburn was among players granted a temporary restraining order allowing them to pursue another college season despite already entering the NFL.
Notre Dame defensive end Junior Tuihalamaka received relief under the same Louisiana ruling and promptly transferred to LSU, giving the Tigers some much-needed defensive line depth.
LSU officials say the developments have forced some minor procedural changes.
“Helmet, cleats, mouthpiece, injunction,” one staffer explained. “Pretty standard equipment now.”
Coaches have reportedly added a paralegal to the recruiting staff and converted one film room into a temporary legal office.
The NCAA declined comment, pending approval from whichever Louisiana district judge is currently in charge of its eligibility rules.
