BATON ROUGE, LA – In a decisive step toward addressing long security lines, state officials have ordered three separate studies to evaluate the feasibility of adding one additional TSA lane at Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport.
According to officials, the studies will focus on key factors including lane placement, passenger flow, and whether adding a lane would create the unintended consequence of people moving too quickly.
“While early indicators suggest another lane could help, we want to be absolutely certain before taking any reckless action,” a spokesperson said.
Phase one will determine if a line is still considered a line after being expanded. Phase two will evaluate whether closing a nearby TSA checkpoint exit could assist travelers in the left two lines to move faster. Phase three will review the first two phases and determine if a study should be ordered that may call for another set of studies.
Officials say the project is currently on pace to be completed by 2029, with results expected shortly after residents stop asking about it.
