BATON ROUGE, LA – With another weekend approaching, downtown Baton Rouge officials say they are optimistic this weekend’s fights will offer a safer, more family-friendly experience for everyone.
Following several viral videos showing large crowds and fights along Third Street, officials are encouraging participants to keep this weekend’s altercations respectful, organized and appropriate for spectators of all ages.
“We’re not expecting people to stop fighting overnight,” one downtown official explained. “We’re just asking everyone to watch the language and maybe wait until the kids get through.”
Local businesses are preparing for another busy Saturday featuring live music, drink specials and the possibility of several unsanctioned bouts breaking out shortly after midnight.
Officials also reminded visitors to remain aware of their surroundings and avoid interfering with active fights unless they have been properly tagged in.
Despite recent concerns, downtown leaders remain optimistic.
“We want families to come back downtown,” said one official. “Preferably before 9:30.”
