Governor Mandates Live Beavers at Every Louisiana Buc-ee’s, Citing Lifelong Love for Them

Jeff Landry Bucees Live Beaver Lafayette Louisiana The SadvocateLAFAYETTE, La. – Following his controversial decision to rent a live tiger for an LSU football game, Governor Jeff Landry has now issued an executive order requiring every Buc-ee’s in Louisiana to have a live beaver on-site 24/7.

Buc-ee’s is about tradition, and nothing says tradition like a real, live beaver greeting customers,” Landry said, grinning. “I’ve had a deep appreciation for beavers since my teenage years—but it wasn’t until my freshman year at UL that I truly understood my passion. Over the years, I’ve had plenty of beavers—some for a while, some just for a night—but each one left a lasting impression.

Animal rights groups and logical thinkers have questioned the move, arguing that forcing beavers to endure endless crowds, brisket grease, and screaming children is inhumane. Yet Landry remains committed, insisting, “Once you spend time around a beaver, you can’t get enough.”

As officials scramble to enforce the mandate, Landry doubled down, stating he wants to personally inspect each and every beaver to make sure it meets his standards before being accepted. “I only want the nicest ones, preferably one that hasn’t been around too much.”
