BATON ROUGE, LA – After reminding guests of its long-standing business casual dress code, management at the Baton Rouge location of Ruth’s Chris Steak House says it has been forced to clarify a point that many local diners apparently misunderstood.
Specifically, officials confirmed that “business casual” does not include a freshly ironed fishing shirt.
The clarification came after several patrons arrived for dinner wearing brightly colored performance shirts typically reserved for offshore trips, backyard crawfish boils, and LSU baseball tailgates.
“We want people to feel comfortable,” said one manager. “But at some point we had to address the assumption that a Magellan or Columbia shirt automatically becomes formal attire if it’s clean and tucked in.”
Several Baton Rouge men expressed confusion, noting that fishing shirts have long served as the region’s universal outfit for nearly every occasion.
“I’ve worn this same shirt to weddings, church, and jury duty,” said one diner. “Now suddenly it’s not good enough for a steak?”
