BATON ROUGE, LA – Officials inside Mayor Sid Edwards’ administration confirmed Wednesday that staff have moved to a “heightened awareness posture” after learning the ongoing recall effort against the mayor has surged to 10 total signatures after its first month.

According to sources inside City Hall, Edwards’ senior advisors have begun holding regular check-ins to monitor the situation and determine whether the sudden spike in support could represent the early stages of momentum.
“We’re taking this very seriously,” one aide said. “Ten signatures is a number you can’t just ignore.”
The recall campaign must gather roughly 50,000 signatures to trigger an election, leaving organizers only 49,990 short of their goal.
Still, officials say the mayor wants to stay prepared.
“Right now we’re focusing on identifying who these ten individuals are and whether they might know additional people,” the aide added.
Staff confirmed the administration has created a dashboard to monitor the recall’s progress in real time in case the number reacches into the teens.
