BATON ROUGE, LA – LSU has reportedly offered Jayden Daniels’ mother, Regina Jackson, a position on the Tigers’ defensive staff after watching her accomplish something SEC defenses struggled to do for two straight seasons: take down a Heisman Quarterback with ease.
The offer came after reports that Jackson, who manages Daniels’ business affairs, was behind a cease-and-desist sent to LSU involving the university’s use of her son’s name, image and likeness amid the ongoing controversy over freshman DJ Pickett wearing No. 5.
“Some of the SEC’s best defenses have given up hundreds of yards trying to stop top quarterbacks,” one LSU staffer said. “Daniels’ mom took one down with some paperwork and a couple emails. We need that kind of production.”
Sources say coaches were particularly impressed by Jackson’s ability to pressure a quarterback without blitzing, disguising coverage or even being on the field.
Daniels, who reportedly wants the controversy behind him, has not commented on his mom’s job offer.
LSU officials remain unsure whether Jackson will accept the position, but acknowledged she’s already done more damage to a Heisman quarterback than most SEC defenses managed in two years.
