BATON ROUGE, La. – Police say they didn’t have to lift a finger to solve a stolen car case after the thief listed the vehicle on Facebook Marketplace using his full legal name, profile picture, and even location tagging turned on.
The stolen 2018 Honda Accord was listed with the description: “Clean ride. No lowballers — I know what I stole.”

The victim, scrolling for a replacement car, was stunned to find what looked exactly like his missing vehicle. That suspicion quickly turned into certainty during a test drive when the car’s Bluetooth automatically connected to his phone and resumed his Spotify playlist in the exact spot he left off.
Adding to the surreal moment, his old Chick-fil-A receipt and picture of his ex girlfriend were still in the center console.
Police apprehended the suspect at the meetup location without incident.
“Honestly, it was the most relaxing arrest we’ve ever made,” said one officer. “If every thief were this courteous, we could all take weekends off.”
Baton Rouge Police Chief TJ Morse has nominated the alleged thief for the coveted “Criminal of the Year” award which gets you a “frequent arrest” punch card, personalized coffee mug with your mugshot and priority booking for Dateline interviews.
