BATON ROUGE, LA – Organizers seeking to recall Governor Jeff Landry announced Monday they have enough signatures, provided 92% of registered Louisiana voters move to Texas by this Thursday.
The same organizer previously submitted 2,193 signatures to recall Mayor-President Sid Edwards, just shy of the approximately 50,000 required.
“We nearly had enough to remove him from a moderately active group chat,” a spokesperson said.
After reviewing that experience, organizers concluded the problem was Louisiana’s excessive supply of people who hadn’t signed.
“We’re bringing the population into alignment with our results,” the spokesperson explained.
Volunteers will distribute moving boxes and directions to Beaumont, asking residents to establish Texas residency before the deadline.
The campaign stressed that relocation would be temporary, although participants should register to vote there, buy property, and avoid coming back until Landry has been evicted.
Landry volunteered most of his Louisiana State Police detail to help load moving trucks.
The campaign’s first setback came when Texas asked how many of the arriving residents would immediately try to recall its governor.
