ST. GEORGE, LA – Local officials unveiled plans for a major redesign of Siegen Lane this week, promising motorists a vastly improved experience while spending multiple traffic light cycles in exactly the same location.
According to preliminary concepts, the upgraded corridor will feature wider lanes, improved medians, synchronized traffic signals, enhanced lighting, and several state-of-the-art places for drivers to remain completely motionless while wondering if they somehow missed the green light.
Transportation planners say the goal isn’t necessarily to eliminate congestion but to make it feel more modern.
“We’re committed to providing residents with a premium waiting experience,” one engineer explained while pointing to a rendering of an SUV sitting behind fourteen other vehicles outside Costco. “Drivers deserve to enjoy today’s traffic using tomorrow’s infrastructure.”
Officials also highlighted new decorative landscaping, giving motorists something attractive to admire during the second light cycle before advancing another three car lengths.
Local commuters welcomed the investment, saying they were especially excited about having enough time to notice the upgraded sidewalks, inspect every nearby restaurant sign, reorganize their center console, answer three text messages they definitely shouldn’t be sending, and begin questioning every life decision that led them onto Siegen Lane in the first place.
Project leaders estimate the improvements will be completed well before drivers reach the next intersection.
