BATON ROUGE, LA – Baton Rouge bars are preparing for Saturday’s LSU-Ole Miss showdown by placing an emergency order for 41,000 Michelob Ultras, a quantity local officials believe should sustain the city through approximately the first quarter.
Bar owners began activating game-day contingency plans Friday, clearing warehouse space, reinforcing walk-in coolers and identifying secondary Ultra reserves should LSU fall behind early.
“We studied the consumption data from Tiger Stadium and realized 41,000 is apparently just what LSU fans drink now,” said one local bar manager. “We’re treating this like hurricane preparation, except everybody is voluntarily leaving their house.”
Several establishments have reportedly established an emergency distribution network allowing bars experiencing critical Ultra shortages to request immediate assistance from neighboring businesses.
Bud Light and Miller Lite inventories were also increased as a precaution, although officials emphasized those supplies would only be opened during a genuine emergency.
Local authorities urged residents not to panic-buy beer before kickoff.
