CENTRAL, LA – After yet another Cox internet outage left residents and businesses offline, Central residents have reportedly abandoned the longtime practice of reporting outages and will instead begin notifying each other during the increasingly noteworthy periods when service is actually working.
The change came after State Representative Lauren Ventrella publicly complained about the latest outage, saying she had contacted the Public Service Commission and had personally reached her limit with the recurring problems. Ventrella wasn’t sure if the PSC responded since she was unable to log into her email account amid the outage.
Residents quickly realized that tracking outages had become unnecessarily complicated.
“We used to post in the neighborhood Facebook group whenever Cox went down,” said one Central resident. “Now somebody just posts, ‘Mine’s working,’ and everybody runs to their computers to see if they have it too.”
Officials say the new system should dramatically reduce the number of social media posts required to document Cox service reliability.
Cox customers were also reminded that while internet availability may fluctuate, the company’s billing system continues to provide remarkably dependable service.
“Autopay hasn’t gone down once,” confirmed one resident by telephone, since her wifi wasn’t working. “Whatever technology they’re using for that, they need to hook it up to the internet or something.”
