BATON ROUGE, LA – Former Gov. John Bel Edwards has officially returned to Louisiana politics, announcing a two-week campaign designed to slow the spread of Republicans in Congress before the situation becomes completely unmanageable.
Edwards unveiled the initiative after endorsing a Democratic candidate in Louisiana’s newly redrawn congressional race, warning supporters that immediate action would be necessary to prevent additional Republican seats from spreading across the state.
“We’re just asking everyone to give us two weeks,” Edwards reportedly told supporters. “If we all do our part, stay disciplined and avoid unnecessary exposure to Republican campaign signs, we can flatten this thing.”
Campaign officials said the next 14 days will include endorsements, fundraising and carefully monitored gatherings, with additional restrictions possible if Republican polling numbers continue climbing.
Louisiana Republicans responded by reminding voters that they had heard the “two weeks” thing before.
Edwards quickly dismissed those concerns, assuring residents that the campaign would absolutely end after 14 days unless, of course, the numbers suggest another two weeks are necessary.
