BIRMINGHAM, AL – SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey has offered to drop the conference’s lawsuit against LSU if Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill agrees not to make anymore memes about the lawsuit afterward.
According to a proposed agreement, Murrill would be barred from placing Sankey’s face on a crying cartoon, using the phrase “case dismissed” over a photo of him, or posting anything that begins, “When you sue LSU and…”
Sankey’s attorneys also requested access to Murrill’s camera roll, drafts folder and any group chats labeled “SEC.”
“This is a reasonable condition for ending a legal dispute,” a conference official said. “The commissioner simply wants assurances that the dispute will end on the internet as well.”
Murrill reportedly objected to a provision banning reaction GIFs, arguing that the term was too broad and could apply to footage of Sankey speaking at SEC Media Days.
Murrill’s office said it would consider the offer once Sankey clarified whether memes already created and scheduled count as “new content.”
