BATON ROUGE, LA – For the 27th consecutive year, Baton Rouge residents have once again voted New Generation Electronics the city’s best electronics retailer despite the company having closed its doors decades ago.
The annual survey, conducted primarily through conversations that began with the phrase “Remember when Baton Rouge had real stores?” found New Generation comfortably defeating every currently operating electronics retailer in the area.
According to the results, many voters cited New Generation’s customer service, product selection, and its willingness to spend twenty minutes explaining the difference between VHS and Betamax to a confused father of three.
“It’s still the best electronics store Baton Rouge ever had,” said local resident Tommy Landry, who has not purchased a television there since 1994.
Researchers found that memories of New Generation improve by roughly 8 percent every year. Several respondents now recall the store carrying products and services that never actually existed, including smart TVs, drone repair, and cryptocurrency consulting.
Betamax supporters contacted by The Sadvocate remained optimistic that their patience would soon be rewarded, noting that they had already waited nearly 40 years and saw no reason to panic now.
