BATON ROUGE, LA – Local bride Emily Thibodeaux says she was stunned this week after learning LSU had scheduled a major SEC football game on the exact same Saturday as her wedding.
“I booked this venue eighteen months ago,” Thibodeaux said. “I just assumed LSU would check with me before finalizing kickoff times.”
The announcement immediately sent wedding guests scrambling to determine whether the reception venue offered adequate television access, reliable Wi-Fi, and enough cell service to stream the game if necessary.
Several attendees reportedly updated their RSVP status from “Attending” to “It’s Complicated.”
Family members attempted to reassure the bride that the wedding remained their top priority, before asking if the ceremony could be moved up by approximately three hours.
Sources say the groom became concerned after discovering the seating chart included a section labeled “Watch Party Overflow.”
Local reception venues have reportedly begun advertising new amenities including jumbo screens, dedicated score update attendants, and emergency halftime buffet service.
Guests later agreed the ceremony should proceed as planned, while quietly asking whether the officiant would be willing to provide score updates between vows.
