East Baton Rouge Mosquitoes Ask Parish For Second Facility To Accommodate Their Rapid Growth

BATON ROUGE, LA – Citing years of strong population growth and increasing demand for biting services, East Baton Rouge mosquitoes formally requested funding this week for a second parish facility, arguing that the current mosquito control complex is no longer sufficient to support the area’s thriving mosquito community.

Speaking through a representative who had just landed on a resident’s neck, mosquito leaders praised parish officials for their continued investment in mosquito-related infrastructure, including aircraft, helicopters, and a state-of-the-art headquarters.

“We’ve simply outgrown the current facility,” said one mosquito. “The population has exploded, and we need additional space to support future operations.”

The request has left some residents confused, as the primary mission of mosquito control is generally understood to be reducing the mosquito population rather than expanding alongside it.

Parish officials defended the investment, noting that the new headquarters features modern offices, upgraded equipment, and ample meeting space for discussing mosquitoes.

Residents, meanwhile, reported being bitten repeatedly while reading news coverage about the expansion request.

Sources say mosquitoes are seeking a second campus on the opposite side of the parish to improve accessibility and reduce commute times between breeding grounds.

At a recent public meeting, several mosquitoes reportedly thanked taxpayers for their continued support and expressed optimism that future funding opportunities would allow the species to maintain its current growth trajectory for years to come.
