BATON ROUGE, LA – LSU officials announced Thursday that Post Malone has been forced to cancel his May 23 concert at Tiger Stadium after his tour bus became stranded in severe I-10 traffic on the Atchafalaya Spillway.
According to members of the singer’s touring crew, the bus departed Texas nearly three weeks ahead of schedule in what was described as an “aggressive but realistic” attempt to arrive in Baton Rouge on time. The plan reportedly failed shortly after passing through Breaux Bridge and attempting to cross the spillway, where traffic immediately slowed to what DOTD officials later classified as “completely expected conditions.”
Sources say the bus has advanced approximately three hundred feet since Wednesday morning, although several passengers reportedly celebrated briefly after spotting a Buc-ee’s billboard they had not seen during the previous 14 hours.
LSU officials stated they explored several backup options, including transporting Post Malone with the State Police helicopter but that plan fell apart when they found out the governor had it in West Palm Beach for a late spring break getaway.
DOTD officials confirmed Thursday that a full study on the recurring Spillway traffic issue is expected to begin shortly after completion of the ongoing study examining why the previous traffic studies failed.
Sources say several members of Malone’s entourage have already changed their mailing addresses to Iberville Parish.
