BATON ROUGE, LA – Former LSU head coach Brian Kelly, who has spent the past week arguing he was never actually fired, took to Facebook on Saturday to congratulate himself for the Tigers’ win over Arkansas. In a selfie posted from his living room, Kelly praised the “tremendous execution of my long-term vision that I definitely still oversee.”
Kelly, who filed suit claiming his termination was never formalized, said the victory “clearly reflects the steady leadership of whoever the head coach is right now, which might still be me depending on how you read the bylaws.” He noted that no one has physically taken his whistle, revoked his parking pass, or told him in person, which he describes as “the traditional indicators of unemployment.”
Sources inside LSU confirmed that while Kelly’s office has been cleaned out, his key card remains active due to what one administrator called “a clerical stalemate.” The interim coach declined to comment, saying only that he “did not expect to be competing with Brian Kelly for credit in Week 11.”
University staff say they plan to address Kelly’s employment confusion “first thing Monday,” right after they figure out how many interim titles are currently active.
