NEW ORLEANS, LA – Former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu is reportedly considering a run for president in 2028 after receiving overwhelming encouragement from as many as three people who told him he should totally go for it.
Landrieu confirmed he is thinking about entering the race, saying a final decision likely won’t come until after the midterm elections.
Sources say presidential speculation intensified after Landrieu attended a recent gathering where one person allegedly said, “You know who should run? Mitch,” while another nodded and replied, “Honestly, yeah.”
A third person reportedly overheard the conversation and added, “I’d vote for you,” although investigators have been unable to determine whether alcohol was involved.
The groundswell of support has reportedly encouraged Landrieu to begin imagining a potential campaign, including stops in Iowa, New Hampshire and possibly Metairie.
Political analysts say three people represents a surprisingly strong opening for a presidential campaign that technically does not exist yet.
A man close to the ex-mayor says Landrieu remains undecided but has rented a black Suburban from Enterprise Rent-A-Car so he can practice waving from the back seat.
