BATON ROUGE, LA – Congressional candidate Blake Miguez dismissed questions about his New Iberia residence Thursday, explaining that he lives in Baton Rouge but purchased a property with an unusually long driveway.
“Just because my driveway has three truck stops doesn’t mean I live in New Iberia,” Miguez said. “We wanted a little space between the house and the road.”
Miguez described the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge as a decorative water feature and said the thousands of motorists traveling through his property daily were mostly campaign volunteers and Amazon delivery drivers.
He acknowledged that getting the newspaper requires a full tank of gas, but insisted this was typical of larger Baton Rouge lots.
“We wanted some distance from the road,” he explained.
His campaign has since installed a basketball goal beside I-10 to establish the driveway’s residential character.
Miguez said he would release proof of residency once his son returned from taking the trash to the curb sometime next Sunday.
