BATON ROUGE, LA – The Capital Area Transit System unveiled a new mobile app this week that will allow Baton Rouge residents to track exactly how much taxpayer money is being stolen in real time.
The new feature includes a constantly updating dollar counter, detailed transaction history and optional push notifications whenever another suspicious chunk of public money disappears.
“This is really about transparency,” said a CATS spokesperson. “Previously, taxpayers had to wait months for an indictment to find out where their money went. Now they can watch it happen live.”
Users can also access an interactive map showing the approximate location of their bus alongside a separate tracker showing taxpayer money rapidly leaving the CATS system.
Developers say future updates could include historical theft statistics, daily leaderboards, and court date trackers for the 10% of people who actually got caught.
Early reviews have been positive, with riders praising the app’s accuracy.
CATS officials called the new feature a major step toward transparency, although several taxpayers said they would have preferred keeping the money.
