BATON ROUGE, LA – LSU fans are promising to remain inside Tiger Stadium until the final whistle Saturday night, provided the game does not unexpectedly extend beyond three quarters.
The commitment comes after LSU began offering incentives to students who remain in the stadium for the entire game, part of an effort to keep the student section full later into the night.
“We’re committed to being there until the very end,” said LSU student Ben Galatoire. “Obviously, if they decide to play some kind of additional quarter after the third one, that changes things.”
Other fans agreed, saying they were prepared to remain inside Tiger Stadium regardless of the score, weather or concession lines.
Traffic, however, remains a potential dealbreaker.
“I’m not leaving early just to beat traffic,” another fan explained. “But if 30,000 other people start leaving early to beat traffic, I’m definitely getting ahead of them.”
LSU officials remain hopeful Saturday’s game can somehow conclude before the fourth quarter begins.
