BATON ROUGE, LA – In an unprecedented display of patience, LSU fans announced Friday they are prepared to give head coach Lane Kiffin at least two complete offensive series before determining whether his career at LSU is a success or catastrophic failure.
“I’m trying to be reasonable,” said lifelong LSU fan Travis Hebert. “I’m not judging anything on the opening drive. Unless we go three-and-out. Then obviously we have some serious questions.”
Fans confirmed the first series will mostly be used to evaluate play calling, quarterback development and whether Kiffin understands that running the football is mandatory whenever a pass doesn’t work.
The second possession will reportedly determine whether LSU has finally found its coach or should immediately begin researching buyout numbers.
Several fans have already prepared Facebook posts ranging from “LANE TRAIN!!!” to “FIRE LANE” depending entirely on the outcome of approximately eight plays.
Most agreed Kiffin deserves a fair opportunity.
“We’re not unreasonable people,” Hebert added. “We’ll wait until the second commercial break.”
