LIVINGSTON, LA – The Livingston Parish Council delayed a vote Thursday on regulations involving privately operated Flock cameras after one of the cameras reportedly provided officials with a complete list of everyone who attended the meeting.
Council members were discussing privacy concerns surrounding license-plate-reading cameras when officials received a report containing attendees’ names, arrival times, vehicle descriptions and several unrelated stops made earlier in the day.
“It was extremely thorough,” one council member said. “Apparently three people stopped at Carter’s Supermarket, somebody went to Tractor Supply, and Gary told his wife he was going straight home.”
The council voted 6–3 to postpone action while officials gather more information about how the technology works and, presumably, what else it already knows.
Residents expressed mixed feelings about the cameras, particularly after learning the system had documented several of them circling the parking lot looking for a closer space.
Officials said discussions will continue at a future meeting. Local flock cameras have already confirmed everyone’s availability.
