ATLANTA, GA – Just hours after Mattel unveiled its highly anticipated Angel Reese Barbie, company officials confirmed the doll has become the first in history to refuse to leave its packaging until a fully guaranteed four-year deal is finalized.
According to sources close to the negotiations, the initial Christmas proposal included one Dreamhouse, two outfit changes, and unlimited tea parties. The offer was immediately rejected by the doll’s representatives as “well below current market value.”
“We’re simply asking for what today’s elite toys deserve,” the doll’s agent reportedly said. “Four guaranteed Christmases, annual accessory increases, premium shelf placement, and a no-trade clause preventing her from being donated to Goodwill after the next birthday.”
Parents across Louisiana expressed concern after their own children reportedly hired agents before agreeing to clean their rooms, unload the dishwasher, or appear in family Christmas photos.
Mattel attempted to calm the situation by reminding consumers the doll still ships with the same accessories advertised on the box. Negotiations reportedly stalled again, however, after Angel Reese Barbie learned Ken had accepted his contract without even asking for performance bonuses.
Several Reese fans have said they will refuse to purchase the doll unless Mattel included a tiny championship ring for it to point to.
