NEW ORLEANS, LA – Just hours after asking that criminal charges against Attorney General Liz Murrill be dropped, New Orleans officials reportedly listed the city’s slightly used indictment on Facebook Marketplace in hopes that another municipality might have a need for it.
The listing describes the indictment as being in “excellent condition,” noting it was “only used for a couple of weeks” and comes complete with all original paperwork, signatures, and 16 felony counts.
“We simply don’t have room for it anymore,” one city official reportedly wrote in the listing. “Our loss is your gain.”
The asking price was set at $116, or best offer, though officials indicated they would also consider trades for functioning infrastructure, a balanced budget, or a enough asphalt to fill one entire pothole.
Marketplace users quickly flooded the comments asking whether the indictment was still available or if it had already been marked “pending pickup.”
By Tuesday evening, the listing had reportedly been updated to “Free,” with city officials adding that they were mainly interested in getting it off their hands before anyone asked why they bought it in the first place.
