WASHINGTON, DC – Former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels’ mother has reportedly expanded her efforts to protect the legacy of her son’s number 5, sending a cease-and-desist letter to Five Guys for what her attorneys described as “unauthorized and potentially confusing use” of her boy’s number.
The move comes after Daniels reportedly took issue with LSU issuing No. 5 to freshman defensive back D.J. Pickett.
Sources say Daniels has demanded Five Guys immediately change its name to Four Guys, which is a number that “does not diminish the historical significance of the Daniels era.”
LSU, meanwhile, is attempting to avoid further legal trouble by temporarily issuing Pickett No. 5.5 until further notice.
Daniels’ attorneys have not ruled out additional action against the band Maroon 5, manufacturers of No. 5 birthday cake candles, or cell phone manufacturers for continually adding the number five to their phones.
Daniels’ attorneys have also reportedly assembled a special task force to investigate Five Below and Google, which continues to use an unauthorized five-star rating system, with cease-and-desist letters eventually expected for anyone caught counting past four without first acknowledging the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner.
