OXFORD, MS – As Ole Miss explores legal options to recover buyout money tied to former players now at LSU, university officials announced Tuesday they are expanding their efforts to include “all outstanding assets,” beginning with the complimentary hotel toiletries handed out during recruiting visits.
Athletic department staff members were reportedly instructed to inventory every miniature shampoo bottle, bar of soap, and travel-size lotion believed to have crossed state lines on the way to Baton Rouge.
“We’re simply asking for what’s ours,” an Ole Miss spokesperson explained while examining a spreadsheet labeled Operation: Suds Recovery. “If a recruit took two shampoos instead of one, we’d appreciate their prompt return.”
Sources say LSU compliance officials briefly considered mailing back several grocery bags filled with unopened hotel amenities before deciding the shipping costs would exceed the value of the products.
Lane Kiffin reportedly declined to comment but was seen quietly checking the guest bathroom at his Baton Rouge home.
Ole Miss officials say next week’s demand letter will focus on bath towels, coffee pods, and several dozen complimentary continental breakfast muffins that remain “unaccounted for.”
