BATON ROUGE, LA – In an amazing leap into modern traffic management, LSU research students have developed an advanced artificial intelligence system intended to reduce vehicle crashes at Baton Rouge intersections. However, after processing just 17 minutes of local traffic data, the AI began repeatedly issuing the same recommendation: “Move away from Baton Rouge immediately.”
The system, designed to analyze accident patterns and suggest safety improvements, reportedly shut down twice while reviewing footage from Government Street and Essen Lane, displaying the error message, “Conditions unfit for logical transit.”
“The AI initially tried optimizing light timing,” said one student, “but then it observed a Nissan Altima with 3 mismatched body parts and expired Texas tags blow through the red light nearly side swiping 3 other vehicles and just gave up.”
Attempts to reprogram the system to consider solutions within city limits failed. It now automatically opens Zillow listings for homes in Mandeville, Covington, and parts of Mississippi.
LADOTD officials are reportedly “reviewing the feedback,” but admitted the AI’s recommendation is surprisingly close to their unofficial strategy of waiting for the worst drivers to age out of the system.
City officials said they remain optimistic, noting the AI’s suggestion to leave Baton Rouge is “still more constructive than anything LADOTD has proposed.”
