BATON ROUGE, LA – Bill Cassidy called for a series of televised debates with his opponents this week, saying it is only fair that Louisiana voters hear directly from him before making what he described as their “final, predictable decision.”
Cassidy formally challenged Julia Letlow to a televised debate, arguing that voters deserve the opportunity to see the candidates discuss their ideas face to face, rather than relying on campaign ads and social media.
“Louisianans deserve transparency,” Cassidy said during a brief press appearance. “They should be able to hear my reasoning, my policy positions, and my explanation for several past decisions before they go ahead and vote against me anyway.”
Campaign aides said the senator believes a debate would help “clear the air” with voters, many of whom remain upset about Cassidy’s vote to convict former President Donald Trump during the second impeachment trial.
According to staffers, Cassidy has already begun preparing for the debate by assembling charts, timelines, and what one aide described as “a very thorough PowerPoint explaining that vote for the 847th time.”
Cassidy’s campaign said the senator looks forward to explaining himself for the 100th time during the debates, hoping voters backing John Fleming will finally understand why.
