GREEN BAY, Wi. – In a move some fans are calling “brilliant” and others are calling “a cry for help,” the New Orleans Saints selected quarterback Tyler Shough in the third round of the NFL Draft — a player who spent so long in college that he reportedly considered applying for tenure.
Shough, who boasts more degrees than career touchdowns, said he’s excited to bring “academic rigor” to the Saints’ locker room. “I may not have the flashiest stats,” he admitted, “but I can diagram a spread offense in APA format.”
Saints officials praised his leadership, maturity, and unparalleled ability to navigate a campus parking lot. “This guy has real-world experience,” said Coach Dennis Allen. “He knows the struggle of 8 a.m. classes and cafeteria Taco Tuesdays. That builds character.”
Shough will reportedly battle for the starting job against Derek Carr, who immediately welcomed the competition by asking Shough to help him fill out his 2025 FAFSA renewal.
