NEW ORLEANS, LA – Former Mayor LaToya Cantrell confirmed this week that the master list of New Orleans’ official social media passwords was inadvertently left behind in Dubai, explaining that the oversight occurred during what she described as “a very full international schedule.”
According to Cantrell, the password list was last seen inside a hotel safe and cannot be accessed remotely due to “security sensitivities” and an expired checkout window. She said the only responsible solution is a brief, city-funded return trip to retrieve the document in person and ensure a smooth transition.
City officials say the delay has left the new administration unable to post updates, respond to residents, or clarify basic information online. Cantrell maintained that the inconvenience is temporary and stressed that rushing the process could create additional risks.
“This isn’t something you email,” Cantrell reportedly told staff, noting that international travel is sometimes required for municipal continuity.
Cantrell reportedly asked if anyone could confirm whether Dubai has an extradition treaty with the United States, clarifying that the question was “purely informational.”
