BATON ROUGE, LA – LSU Athletics announced Sunday that it would no longer move forward with the recently proposed ticket price increase following widespread backlash from fans. The reversal came shortly after the Governor weighed in on social media, tweeting that the university should “maybe hold off on charging people more until the team remembers how to play football.”
In place of the ticket hike, LSU unveiled a new revenue model: a $35 Stadium Exit Fee charged to any fan who chooses to leave Tiger Stadium after the game.
“We felt this approach balances revenue needs with our desire to maintain a strong in-stadium atmosphere,” an LSU spokesperson said. “We heard the fans loud and clear when they told us tickets cost too much. So we decided to monetize leaving instead.”
The fee will be automatically charged to the payment method linked to the digital ticket. Cash exits will not be permitted. Officials stressed that the new policy is “fan-friendly,” noting that it gives supporters the freedom to stay as long as they want.
Critics responded that this new policy is technically also the definition of jail.
