NEW ORLEANS, LA – Just days after learning it may not be able to make payroll through the end of the year, New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell was spotted at a local Ace Cash Express Tuesday morning clutching an electric bill and letter of reference from the city of Jackson’s mayor.
Witnesses say Cantrell appeared visibly nervous while waiting in line, whispering about whether they could “get at least enough to cover sanitation” until Jazz Fest money started rollin’ in. The payday loan clerk reportedly asked for “proof of steady income,” prompting the mayor to hand over a photo of NBA Young Boy crowds as evidence of “potential revenue.”
Sources confirm the loan was approved under the condition that New Orleans put up “something of value” as collateral, resulting in the temporary lien of the Superdome, the streetcar system, and and the login to Latoya Cantrell’s sky miles account
Ace Cash Express representatives say they’re thrilled to expand into “municipal lending,” noting that Shreveport has already called asking for “whatever New Orleans got.”
