NEW ORLEANS, La. – In a bold move that has sports analysts scratching their heads, the New Orleans Saints have re-signed Clyde Edwards-Helaire to a one-year deal, presumably after running out of better options.
“We considered drafting a rookie, signing a veteran, or converting a defensive player into a running back for fun,” said Saints GM Mickey Loomis. “Then someone said, ‘Hey, what about that guy who used to be good at LSU?’ and here we are.”
Edwards-Helaire, who has spent the last few seasons perfecting the art of being sidelined in Kansas City, expressed excitement about the opportunity. “It’s nice to be back in Louisiana, where the humidity makes my hamstrings feel right at home.”
Meanwhile, Saints fans remain cautiously optimistic. “We love a good redemption arc,” said one season ticket holder. “Or at least, that’s what we tell ourselves every offseason.”
Officials confirmed that if this doesn’t work out, Mark Ingram is still available.
