NEW ORLEANS, LA – In the latest twist of the Orleans Parish jailbreak saga, law enforcement officials have arrested the mother of one of the escapees after discovering she sent a text reading “Y’all be safe” to a group chat believed to have included all 10 escapees at one point.
Authorities say the message constitutes “direct moral support for criminal activity,” which in Louisiana apparently qualifies as aiding and abetting if sent with an exclamation mark.
“She might as well have drawn them a map and baked them a cake with a file in it,” said an Orleans Parish spokesperson. “We’re treating this text like a blueprint.”
The mother, whose name had not been released at the time of this story, reportedly told officers, “I just didn’t want anybody to get hurt! I say that to everyone—even when they go to Rouses.”
Investigators are now combing through additional texts including “let me know when y’all get there” and “don’t forget your charger” to determine if any other charges are warranted.
District attorneys have confirmed that “passive-aggressive encouragement” is now a felony under emergency Orleans Parish law, alongside possession of prison contraband and forgetting to mute your phone in court.
More arrests are expected after police subpoena a family group chat titled “💯 My Babies 💯.”
