CENTRAL, LA – Following an illegal $1,000 donation to a Central police chief candidate, a local nonprofit has expanded its awareness mission to include the rules governing its own checking account.
Organizers announced a new campaign finance awareness initiative Saturday, beginning with a solemn reading of the part that says they cannot do that.
“We’ve always believed education changes lives,” said a fictional spokesperson. “We now believe it should occasionally occur before writing the check.”
The organization plans to distribute informational bracelets reading “Ask Before Donating,” host a benefit dinner for basic regulatory comprehension, and establish an annual walk to the filing cabinet where its nonprofit paperwork is kept.
The campaign returned the donation, completing what organizers described as their first successful fundraiser in reverse.
Future expenditures will undergo a rigorous approval process involving someone Googling whether they are allowed.
Officials hope to raise $1,000 for the initiative, although they acknowledged they are still determining who can legally give it to whom.
